[Link] | I hit a dog with my car driving to work yesterday. There were two of them running together, and there was nowhere for me to go to avoid running into one of them.
I wasn't sure what to do. It was on the highway and there was no place to stop so I went on to work (luckily only a mile further up the road), and called the Sheriff's Department. I was hoping they could send someone to take a look and get him to a vet. Only they don't do "that sort of thing" and would only agree to notify Animal Control, which would mean a minimum two hour wait.. :.(
Then I thought of the Volunteer Fire Dept and pled my case. That's one real advantage of working in a small town ~ they know me and see me all the time. so how could they say no? So a guy went to check and couldn't find him. He came back to where I worked for more detailed directions and went out to look again.
Still nothing. No blood, no body, no drag marks through the median. I'm hoping that means I didn't hurt him badly (and he's not suffering internal damage), and that he and his twin made it back home. There's no damage to my car - and this was a BIG dog, so my husband thinks maybe I hit him with my tire. Whatever. I just hope he's okay.

But...I'm just a lurker!
So now that I have a LiveJournal I guess I have to step out of my comfort zone and finally learn something about how this whole thing works. I'm going to take it slow and easy, so don't expect anything but faltering baby steps for a good long while.
And you can blame RhymePhile for having such an interesting site that I just had to see more.
